Déterminer les facteurs paracrines importants libérés par les ostéoblastes sous-chondraux pouvant contrôler la dégradation du cartilage chez les patients ostéoarthritiques. Déterminer les mécanismes responsables de la minéralisation anormale de l'os sous-chondral chez les patients ostéoarthritiques. Rôle de la signalisation Wnt dans les ostéoblastes arthrosiques. Biographie

Daniel Lajeunesse possède un doctorat en biochimie de l’Université de Montréal et il a effectué ses études postdoctorales notamment aux National Institutes of Health à Baltimore. Il est professeur titulaire au Département de médecine de l’UdeM depuis 2005.  Il a agi à titre de directeur des études de deuxième et troisième cycle en sciences biomédicales à la Faculté de médecine de 2004 à 2013.  En 2013, il a été nommé vice-doyen aux sciences fondamentales et aux études supérieures à la Faculté de médecine.  De 2017 à 2020, il a été vice-recteur adjoint au vice-rectorat à la recherche, à la découverte, à la création et à l'innovation (VRRDCI). 

Chercheur réputé mondialement, Daniel Lajeunesse a participé, comme directeur ou comme collaborateur, à la rédaction de 88 publications scientifiques, 12 chapitres de livres et plus de 200 résumés de présentations, sans compter les nombreuses conférences qu’il a prononcées. Il a été membre de plusieurs comités d’évaluation par les pairs au Canada (dont aux Instituts de recherche en santé du Canada, aux Fonds de recherche du Québec et à la Fondation canadienne du rein) et à l’étranger, ainsi que de comités d’évaluation d’étudiants. Il a dirigé 27 étudiants à la maîtrise et au doctorat et 22 étudiants stagiaires de premier cycle, tout en étant à la tête des comités d’encadrement des cycles supérieurs.
