Les intérêts de recherche de la Pre Rushton portent à la fois sur les outils d’évaluation, les interventions, la formation et le transfert des connaissances en matière de mobilité en fauteuils roulants à travers un processus de prestations de services de fauteuils roulants amélioré tant auprès d’une clientèle pédiatrique qu’adulte. Elle s’intéresse plus particulièrement aux habiletés et à la confiance en fauteuil roulant ainsi qu’au développement de fauteuils roulants électriques intelligents.

Paula Rushton est professeure agrégée à l'École de réadaptation de l'Université de Montréal au programme d'ergothérapie. Elle est également chercheuse régulière au Centre de recherche du CHU Ste-Justine. Ses recherches portent sur les mesures, l'intervention, le transfert de connaissances et l'enseignement dans le but d'améliorer la mobilité en fauteuil roulant tant auprès d'une population adulte que pédiatrique par le biais d'une amélioration du processus de prestation de services en fauteuils roulants.
