Vice-Rectorate of Research, Discovery, Creation and Innovation

The overall mission of the Vice-Rectorate of Research, Discovery, Creation and Innovation (VRRDCI) is to coordinate and guide all of the scientific activities led at the UdeM. It supports the UdeM's contributions to scientific advancements as well as cultural, social and economic progress through its efforts to promote research and creation outcomes.

In accordance with the general mission of the UdeM, the VRRDCI proposes a vision that :

  • Encourages the diversity of research models (fundamental and applied, theoretical, action-oriented research, individual and collaborative), and development across all fields of knowledge.
  • Affirms the priority given to the growth of activities aiming for excellence, through a multifaceted, integrative, and  collaborative approach at the interface of disciplines, thereby increasing and sustaining UdeM's leadership.
  • Provides added value to the interfaculty collaboration, partnerships, and major projects.

Responsible conduct in research office (BCRR)

The Université de Montréal is committed to promoting a strong culture of responsible research conduct. Its mission is to oversee the well-being of individuals and animals involved directly or indirectly in any project under its responsibility, and to ensure that scientific integrity is at the core of all its research activities.

Office of Research Services and Development (BRDV)


Bureau Recherche-Développement-Valorisation (BRDV)The Office of Research Services and Development (BRDV) contributes to the development of research and its visibility both inside and outside the university. Its mission is to serve researchers by providing guidance from the inception of projects, supporting them in securing funding and managing grants, and facilitating the application of research results. In addition to supporting the planning activities of the VRRDCI, the BRDV ensures the protection of intellectual property, adherence to ethical standards, and compliance with institutional policies and regulations. It also serves as an interface between the University and various research-related environments, with the BRDV team representing the research sector at various internal and external forums.

Center of digital expertise for research (CENR)

The CENR provides advice and support to researchers and research units in creating digital document models and structuring research data. It develops tools and digital platforms in the context of research projects as well as the application of research results and researcher expertise.

Inven_T

Inven_T supports the implementation of responsible social and techno-social innovation projects through co-creation with stakeholders, with the aim of providing creative solutions to social issues. It offers a continuum of services that are original and complementary to the expertise of the BRDV. The Inven_T team provides support from conception through to the implementation of innovative and responsible solutions by stakeholders.

Animal facilities

All housing and use of animals for research and teaching must take place in facilities meeting the standards, guidelines, and recommendations issued by the Canadian Council on Animal Care for animal facilities. The animal facilities have the material and human infrastructures in place to guaranty the compliance with these standards.

Three units provide housing for experimentation animals used in research or in teaching:
