About the 2026 CERC Competition
The Canada Excellence Research Chair Program, Canada's most prestigious Research Chair program, is designed to attract world‑renowned researchers and their teams to launch ambitious research programs at Canadian universities. Researchers recruited through this program are in a position to contribute to Canada's international competitiveness and the well-being of its people. They can also give Canadian institutions a competitive edge in the global research marketplace.
The CERC program is funded by the three federal research funding agencies: the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) and Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC).
