Tanya Mailhot est professeure adjointe à la Faculté des sciences infirmières de l’Université de Montréal et chercheuse régulière au centre de recherche de l'Institut de cardiologie de Montréal. Elle détient une expertise clinique en soins critiques cardiovasculaires et s’intéresse au développement et à l’évaluation de nouvelles modalités d’évaluation et d’intervention, au monitoring cérébral ainsi qu'à l'utilisation d'indicateurs physiologiques dans la prise en charge du délirium en soins cardiovasculaires critiques et aigus. Elle s’intéresse aussi à la participation des familles dans un contexte de délirium. Sur le plan méthodologique, elle se spécialise dans le développement d’intervention, les études pilotes ainsi que la synthèse des connaissances.

Actuellement, ses travaux se penchent sur:

1. la pratique clinique en contexte de délirium
2. la participation des familles et des préposés aux bénéficiaires dans la détection, la prévention et la gestion du délirium
3. le développement de nouveaux indicateurs physiologiques (notamment l’oxymétrie cérébrale et l’électroencéphalogramme simplifié) pour la détection du délirium postopératoire
