Research expertise
Je suis historienne des États-Unis et je m’intéresse de près à l’histoire de l’esclavage, de l’abolition et de la production de connaissances et d’expertise scientifiques au 19e siècle. En particulier, ma recherche explore comment et à quelle fin les Afro-Américains ont incorporé la quantification dans leur activisme avant la guerre de Sécession. Je travaille actuellement sur un projet de livre, sous contrat avec l'University of Chicago Press, sur la question de savoir qui compte aux États-Unis pendant la période antebellum.

I am an historian of the antebellum United States with broad interests in the histories of slavery, abolition, and the production of scientific knowledge and expertise. In particular, my research explores how and to what end African Americans incorporated quantification within their activism in the decades leading up to the Civil War. I am currently working on a book project, under advance contract with the University of Chicago Press, about who counts in the antebellum United States.
