About

A Word from the Vice-Rector
Vincent Poitout
Research is at the core of the Université de Montréal's mission. With exceptional disciplinary diversity across its 13 faculties and schools, 465 research units and a broad network of affiliated health and social services centres, research at Université de Montréal contributes directly to the training of students, the advancement of knowledge and the enrichment of communities, locally and globally. The freedom to conduct research enables our teams to approach theoretical, fundamental and applied questions from multiple perspectives, using a variety of complementary methodologies. The resulting discoveries, often the result of collaborative, cross-sectoral approaches, enable us to respond creatively and rigorously to the increasingly complex challenges of today's world.
In this time of profound global transformation, the creation of new knowledge through university research is more important than ever. The Université de Montréal is committed to actively supporting research that is excellent, collaborative, innovative, diversified and globally engaged, to enhance the leadership of the research community. This plan sets out the Vice-Rector's major strategic priorities for promoting Université de Montréal's research, creation and innovation activities, thereby actively contributing to the discovery, advancement and sharing of knowledge that enables us to respond responsibly to the major challenges of today and tomorrow.
