Profile

Research expertise

Dr. Artenie's research focuses primarily on the epidemiology and prevention of hepatitis C, HIV, overdoses, and other harms related to drug use among people who inject drugs, as well as other vulnerable populations (e.g., men who have sex with men, sex workers). Her research program combines several complementary methodologies, including mathematical modeling, analysis of longitudinal databases, and systematic reviews. Her work is strongly oriented toward public health policy and has notably contributed to the development of WHO guidelines on the elimination of hepatitis C.

Biography

Dr. Adelina Artenie holds a Master’s degree in Experimental Medicine (specializing in Epidemiology) from McGill University and a PhD in Public Health and Epidemiology from the School of Public Health at the Université de Montréal. After completing her PhD, she pursued postdoctoral training focused on mathematical modeling of infectious diseases in vulnerable populations at the University of Bristol in England. Throughout her training, Adelina was awarded competitive scholarships to support her research projects, including funding from CIHR, FRQS, and the Canadian Network on Hepatitis C.
