Biography
Didier Lluelles is a Full Professor at the Faculty of Law, where he has taught since 1977, as well as a member of the Faculty Council and its Plagiarism Committee. He is also a member of the Barreau du Québec. His research and teaching generally focuses on contract law and insurance law. Professor Lluelles co-wrote, with colleague Benoît Moore, Droit des obligations (Éditions Thémis, 2006), a book of more than 2,000 pages that was very well received by the civil law community. He also wrote the now-classic Précis des assurances terrestres, as well as the Droit des assurances, arrêts commentés et textes normatifs textbook with Christianne Dubreuil.
Current Director of the Université de Montréal’s Revue juridique Thémis, Professor Lluelles has just completed a four-year contract as president of the Private Law Section of our Faculty of Law and was previously the Faculty Secretary (1983-1984). He has also a member of the Royal Society of Canada since 2004 and in 1999, received the Cultural Medal “au titre des lettres françaises”, awarded in Paris by the Renaissance Française Association, under the high patronage of the President of the Republic. He has been an associate researcher at CDACI since October 2008. In 2014, he became a member of the International Academy of Comparative Law
