Médecin spécialiste et épidémiologiste, les recherches de la Dre Mayrand dans le domaine de la santé des femmes contribuent à améliorer le dépistage des cancers gynécologiques et à prévenir les maladies reliées aux virus du papillome humain (VPH). Elle s'intéresse également à l'optimisation des pratiques professionnelles en gynécologie-obstétrique. Récipiendaire de bourses salariales et de nombreuses subventions de recherche importantes, elle a déjà publié plus de 50 articles dans des revues avec comités de pairs et contribué à plus d'une centaine de conférences au Québec, au Canada et à l'étranger. 

Elle collabore également avec l'Institut national de santé publique du Québec (INSPQ) et l'Institut national d'excellence en santé et en services sociaux (INESSS) pour la production d'avis de santé publique, en lien avec le dépistage du cancer du col de l'utérus et la vaccination VPH.
