Après l'obtention de mon doctorat en santé publique avec spécialisation en épidémiologie de l'École de santé publique de l’Université de Montréal, j'ai réalisé un stage postdoctoral d'une année au Department of Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Occupational Health à l'Université McGill durant lequel j'ai estimé les trajectoires d'adiposité durant l'enfance et l'adolescence, et estimé les coûts associés au développement de l'obésité pédiatrique sur le système de santé québécois. J'ai ensuite réalisé un stage postdoctoral de trois ans au Department of Population Medicine de la Harvard Medical School et du Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Institute, au cours duquel j'ai investigué le rôle des habitudes de vie sur la santé métabolique au cours de l'enfance et l'adolescence dans la cohorte mère-enfant Project Viva, en utilisant notamment des approches d’inférence causale et d'analyses compositionnelles de mouvement sur 24 heures. J'ai également développé une expertise dans le rôle de la génétique dans le développement des habitudes alimentaires, et de l'interaction entre le risque génétique et les habitudes de vie sur le risque de diabète de type 2 chez l'enfant. 

Mon programme de recherche vise à éclairer les soins cliniques et les stratégies de santé publique pour la prévention de l’obésité et du diabète de type 2 chez les jeunes, grâce à des approches de nutrition de précision. Plus spécifiquement, mes recherches s'articulent autour de quatre axes complémentaires :

(1) comprendre comment la génétique influence les préférences alimentaires, les comportements liés à l'alimentation et le risque cardiométabolique au cours de la vie;

(2) identifier de nouveaux marqueurs précoces du risque de diabète de type 2 à l'aide la protéomique et de la métabolomique chez les jeunes et évaluer leur réponse aux interventions en habitudes de vie;

(3) étudier les interactions entre l'alimentation, le microbiome intestinal et le développement de l'adiposité dès la petite enfance;

(4) estimer l'impact d'interventions hypothétiques ciblant les habitudes de vie durant la grossesse et les premières années de vie sur la prévention de l'obésité et des maladies cardiométaboliques et vérifier comment ces effets varient selon des déterminants sociaux de la santé afin d'identifier les populations susceptibles d'en bénéficier le plus.
