Ses intérêts de recherche sont axés sur l’immunisation ainsi que la compréhension des facteurs de risque et la prévention des infections nosocomiales (associées aux soins de santé) et la prévention de l’antibiorésistance, en particulier dans les populations vulnérables (prématurés, immunocompromis, fibrose kystique).

Le Dr Caroline Quach-Thanh est pédiatre, microbiologiste-infectiologue et épidémiologiste. Elle agit à titre de médecin responsable de l’unité de prévention et contrôle des infections au CHU Sainte-Justine et est la directrice médicale OPTILAB du CHU Sainte-Justine. Elle est également médecin-conseil à l’Institut national de santé publique du Québec (INSPQ) dans la Direction des risques biologiques et de la santé au travail (immunisation et prévention des infections). Le Dr Quach-Thanh est diplômée de la Faculté de médecine de l’Université de Montréal, a complété sa formation en résidence pédiatrique au CHU Sainte-Justine et sa formation post-graduée en microbiologie-infectiologie à l’Université McGill. Elle est chercheur clinicien (support salarial des Fonds de recherche du Québec – Santé, chercheur boursier de mérite). Ses intérêts de recherche sont axés sur la prévention des infections – nosocomiales et maladies évitables par la vaccination.

Le Dr Quach-Thanh est présidente sortante de l’Association de microbiologie médicale et des maladies infectieuses du Canada (AMMI Canada), présidente du Comité sur l’immunisation du Québec (CIQ) et présidente du Comité consultatif national en immunisation de l’Agence de Santé publique du Canada (CCNI-ASPC). Elle est membre du comité central du programme de Surveillance des infections nosocomiales du Québec (SPIN). Le Dr Quach-Thanh est membre du comité scientifique directeur pédiatrique de SHEA (Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America) et membre du comité de recherche de PIDS (Pediatric Infectious Disease Society). Elle a reçu le Prix de recherche de la Fondation de l’Hôpital de Montréal pour enfants (2014), le Prix SHEA William Jarvis pour le meilleur article international publié en prévention des infections remis à l’ID Week 2015 et le Prix de mentorat John Embil en maladies infectieuses, de la Fondation canadienne des maladies infectieuses (2016).
