Biography

Nanette Neuwahl has been a Full Professor at the Université de Montréal’s Centre de recherche en droit public (CRDP) since 2008 and is the University’s Jean Monnet Chair in European Law. She specializes in European Union law (constitutional law and external relations) and her research focuses on interactions with and the division of power between the European Union and its member states, the European Union’s status on the international stage, internormativity and access to justice. She is also a co-editor of European Foreign Affairs Review (Kluwer Law International).

Her most recent work looks at the international rights and obligations of the European Union and its member states, transatlantic relations, expanding the European Union, trade relations with China, constitutional law and human rights within the Union, and the rapport between international and constitutional jurisdictions. Dutch by birth, Professor Neuwahl has a PhD from the European University Institution in Florence and a Master’s Degree from Leiden University.
