Profile

Research expertise

Stéphane Potvin est chercheur en neurophysiologie. Ses travaux de recherche portent principalement sur le rôle néfaste que jouent le cannabis ou l’alcool sur les structures du cerveau chez les schizophrènes, en se focalisant notamment sur le système de récompense du cerveau.

Les intérêts de recherche du Pr Potvin incluent aussi les mécanismes de modulation de la composante affective de la douleur et du traitement des émotions chez les schizophrènes abusant du cannabis, en utilisant la technique d’imagerie par résonance magnétique fonctionnelle. En plus d'être professeur titulaire, il coordonne les activités de l'axe Neurobiologie et cognition du Centre de recherche de l'Institut universitaire en santé mentale de Montréal.

Biography

Stéphane Potvin est chercheur à l'Institut universitaire en santé mentale de Montréal et professeur au Département de psychiatrie et d'addictologie de l'Université de Montréal. Il est titulaire de la Chaire de recherche Eli Lilly sur la schizophrénie.
